The study considers the application of audiovisual content to teaching simultaneous and consecutive interpretation and proposes the principles for selecting such audiovisual content. Consistent audiovisual content application is imperative of our time since the cognitive behavior of the student has changed. We should clearly distinguish between teaching interpretation with AV aids, and teaching audiovisual translation as such. Any authentic audiovisual content in the respective language can be used as a teaching aid. With audiovisual content one can simulate real-life interpretation scenarios to master the interpretation skills, intensify, and optimize the academic process. Audiovisual content is suitable for both conventional offline, and online training. For teaching interpretation, the audiovisual content application is divided into pre-view, view, and post-view stages. Certain principles should be followed when selecting the audiovisual content for teaching interpretation: a scaffolding approach; introduction of difficult aspects one by one; using real-life and up-to-date content.
