Retroreflective screens are used in many areas of photography. Where it is required to view an image projected in the plane of the screen, the resolution can be limited by the structure of the screen. The resolution can be improved by smear¬ing the image at the screen and a convenient method is to use spectral smearing generated using a diffraction grating.
