Hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) enhances the killing of phage T7 by near‐ultraviolet irradiation (NUV), maximally at 340 nm. There is no synergistic action below 300 nm. The addition of H 2 O 2 resulted in a marked increase in the number of single strand (SS) DNA breaks induced at all near‐UV wavelengths tested. However, there is no correlation between SS break induction and degree of killing.
