The equilibrium between ammonium dihydrogen orthophosphate, diammonium dihydrogen pyrophosphate and water has been studied at temperatures between 150 and 200° in ammonium nitrate. At constant temperature, increasing ammonium nitrate content was associated with increases in apparent equilibrium constant for the condensation reaction, and in apparent heat of condensation from −13·7 to −6·5 keal per mole of diammonium dihydrogen pyrophosphate.
