The dependence of the Curie temperature (Tc) and the specific heat of magnetization (ΔC) upon composition in amorphous FePC alloys have been studied. The observed increase in Tc and ΔC of the amorphous alloys with increasing concentration of P and C have been attributed to the change in a distribution of interatomic distances. It is suggested that the rapid drop in Tc and ΔC of the amorphous alloys (phosphorus concentration fixed at XP=0.15) with decreasing carbon content (XC) at XC ≈ 0.05 may arise from a discontinuous structural rearrangement in the amorphous state.
