Mössbauer spectra of 57Fe at 4.2 K and 290 K were observed for bcc and fcc phases of vapor quenched Fe1−xAgx alloys. A ferromagnetic sextet was observed at 4.2 K for both bcc and fcc phases. The average hyperfine fields for the bcc Fe0.86Ag0.14 alloy and the fcc Fe0.4Ag0.6 alloy are about 345 kOe (27 MA/m) and 350 kOe (28 MA/m), respectively. These values are larger than that of pure α-Fe, even though Fe atoms have nonmagnetic Ag atoms on their nearest neighbor sites. A broad quadrupole splitting has been observed in the paramagnetic state of the fcc alloys, indicating no appreciable segregation of Fe atoms in the sputtered Fe1−xAgx alloys.
