Current research on traumas reflects a diversity of concerns about the impact of different types of traumatic experiences.Studies of populations exposed to personal traumas, natural and technological disasters, and war are summarized. Findings about rates of psychopathology, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder, and risk factors are presented. New areas of investigation are highlighted.
