In the recent decade, nanotechnology and nanomaterials are increasingly employed in agriculture to nurture plants to increase crop production, protect the plants against pathogens and pests, and improve the storage of agricultural products. This review has briefly summarized the recent advances of materials nanotechnology for various applications in agriculture. First, the concept and advantages of nanomaterials are briefly introduced. Then the paper reviews that various traditional agrochemicals, such as micronutrients and pesticides, are formulated via nanotechnology to make nanomaterials for more efficient delivery to maintain plants’ abilities to healthily grow and ripen. Moreover, it summarizes that nanotechnology has been artificially combined with plant physiology and biotechnology to protect crops against specific pathogens and increase crop productivity. Nanomaterials are also reviewed for their applications in other agricultural aspects. Finally, the expert has provided his opinions for the future research directions of materials nanotechnology in agriculture.
