An experimental system for measuring the radiative properties of particulate in the infrared is presented. The properties that can be determined are the albedo, extinction coefficient, scattering coefficient, phase function, and asymmetry factor. The experimental work is combined with an analysis using Mie theory to calibrate and verify the system performance. Two different size distributions of soda lime glass beads are used to calibrate the system. Spectral radiation properties for aluminum oxide particles are presented for a wavelength interval from 2.5 to II urn. The experimental results for aluminum oxide are also compared with Mie theory.
