Mean heights of atmospheric ozone derived from two years' observations of the 9.6 p vibration‐rotation band are discussed. In each year there is a seasonal trend with a minimum mean height in summer and an annual range of 3.4 km. Careful consideration of sources of systematic errors shows that this result is probably due to changes in the ozone distribution, and a plausible seasonal cycle of changes of the ozone concentration in the troposphere and lower stratosphere is discussed. No other significant result is obtained and there is very little residual variance available for correlation with other meteorological phenomena.
