We study theoretically X-ray emission spectra (XES) corresponding to the 5 p →3 d electronic transition in insulating La and Ce compounds. The spectra are calculated with the impurity Anderson model and by applying a formula of coherent second order optical process. It is shown that the XES reflects the relaxation through the hybridization between 4 f and valence band states, as well as the lifetime of 3 d core hole. The result is compared with recent experimental data.
