A tryptic peptide containing the oxidation-reduction-active distide of T4 thioredoxin was isolated. Its amino acid sequence was found to be -Cywys-Asx-Asx-Ala-Lys-.This sequence shows no homology with the corresponding structure of Escherichia coti thioredoxin except the presence in both thioredoxins of a 14-membered d&hide ring.Furthermore, tryptic peptide maps and NHz-and COOHterminal residues of the two thioredoxins are different.
