The Milne problem for a hard-sphere Rayleigh gas is studied by solving the stationary Fokker-Planck equation according to the method of moments; the results, obtained with only a modicum of effort, are in excellent agreement with a recent treatment, based on the Boltzmann equation. The belief that the one-dimensional Fokker-Planck equation is appropriate for solving this problem is not supported by our analysis.
