We address comments made by van den Heuvel and van Paradijs in discussing our suggestion that the kinematic and space distributions of radio pulsars and low-mass X-ray binaries arise primarily from the recoil to a supernova explosion that is spherically symmetric in the rest frame of the exploding star, whether it is single or in a close binary. We then argue that most of the situations that they claim are irrefutable evidence for the occurrence of an additional "kick" in a supernova explosion can be accounted for in the framework of the "kickless" scenario.
