Measurements of the relative permittivity and density of benzene have been made at temperatures between 25 and 100 °C and at pressures ranging from 246 bar (25 °C) to 3433 bar (100 °C). Permittivity was measured at 1 kHz. The macroscopic dielectric polarizability has been calculated from these data. Measured values have been fitted to polynomial equations with good accuracy, and this has facilitated comparison with other published work. The isochoric values of polarizability vary with inverse temperature in a manner consistent with an equivalent root-mean-square dipole moment of 0.15 D.
