Consolidates knowledge on nitric oxide in electrophysiology; leaves open translation to arrhythmia management.
Nitric oxide (NO·) has become one of the most important molecular determinants of cardiovascular physiological responses. Although its vital role in preserving vascular function is well established, the impact of NO· on cardiac electrophysiology is less widely appreciated. This chapter summarizes current knowledge in this area.
