Silver electrodes were cycled in 35% solution and examined at various times during constant current charges. The initial formation of took place on the surface of after charge potential rose to the plateau. Preferred locations for initial oxidation of were in the interior of the electrode, around the grid and near large Ag particles where the coating which formed earlier in the charge was comparatively thin. After initial formation in an electrode, oxidation of nearby Ag and took place as the charge continued. Little or no additional Ag was oxidized in other areas of the electrode until had formed there also.
