Cr(III) and Mn(II) complexes of some oximes (H2L), 2-hydroxyacetophenone oxime [haoH2], 2-hydroxynapthaldehyde oxime [hnoH2] and salicylaldehyde oxime [salH2] have been synthesised and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic moment, infrared, electronic and EPR spectral studies. The Mn(II) complexes, Mn(HL)2, show a magnetic moment corresponding to three unpaired electrons and their electronic spectral bands are characteristic of that of square-planar geometry. Whereas, the Cr(III) complexes, Cr(HL)3, also show a magnetic moment corresponding to three unpaired electrons. The electronic and EPR spectral studies suggest an octahedral geometry for the Cr(III) complexes.
