The lecture deals with dissipative dynamical systems, which exhibit chaotic motion for certain values of the control parameters and concentrates on the properties of the chaotic state rather than on the scenarios leading to it. Among the relevant characteristics emphasis will be put on the various entropies (Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy, Rényi entropies) and on the decay properties of the truncated entropy. Their behaviour will be followed when parameters are changed in a way that the chaotic state is maintained. They will be shown to give account of the degree of stochasticity and complexity in the system. The discussion includes the properties of the universal chaos function and also those of an intermittent situation where a phase-transition like phenomenon occurs in the Rényi entropies.
