Abstract 2,2′-Dihydroxy-6,6′-dimethylbiphenyl (1) was successfully resolved into its optically pure forms by the recrystallization of the diastereomeric salts derived from the hydrogenphosphate of 1 and cinchonidine or quinine. The dextrorotatory 1 was determined to have R-configuration.
