This report attempts to correlate hospital admissions with air pollution with the view that air pollution may exert some stress on an already-ill individual and will push him past some threshold point and into the hospital. The correlation is masked by other factors, principally day of week, but still some evidence of correlations exists. Three disease groupings with most variation in admissions between high and low sulfur days (top third and bottom third) were infectious diseases, upper respiratory diseases, and bronchitis.
