We present a novel and convenient process for fabrication of arrays of nanoporous tin oxide nanorods by electrodeposition of tin into anodic aluminum oxide membranes followed by anodization of tin nanorods to create nanochannels. The nanoporous tin oxide nanorods were long and in diam, with nanochannels of in diam. The specific surface area of the porous tin oxide nanorod array was , at least ten times that of the corresponding solid tin nanorod array, and remained constant at temperatures up to at least .
