The s,p-d exchange interaction in Cr-based diluted magnetic semiconductors was studied by means of polarized magnetoreflectance and magnetization at T=2 K. The exchange constant N₀{α}-N₀{β} for four different zinc chalcogenides (Zn_1-x{Cr}ₓ$Se, ${Zn}_{1{{-}}x}Crₓ{Se}0.95S0.05, Zn_1-x{Cr}ₓ$S, and ${Zn}_{1{{-}}x}CrₓTe) was determined. Assuming constant N₀{α} a chemical trend in N₀{β} variation is discussed. {} 1996 The American Physical Society.
