A digital control system for whole-body scanning counters was developed to reduce error caused by either multichannel analyzer dead time or radionuclide decay during the scan. Live-time control is accomplished by operating the scanner with a stepping motor and reducing the input frequency directly with multichannel analyzer dead time. Reducing the frequency exponentially results in scanner velocity decay that follows the radionuclide decay to give a constant calibration during the scan.
