Because of concern over ability to cope with the virus of hepatitis, much blood plasma is currently being wasted. The storage of liquid plasma at room temperature for six or more months eliminates activity of the virus of hepatitis. The method is simple and adaptable to existing blood bank facilities, and it permits the pooling of plasma to avoid blood group (ABO) considerations.
