A small left ventricular pseudoaneurysm after an acute myocardial infarction progressed to a huge pseudoaneurysm with significant mitral regurgitation over a 1-year period without surgical treatment.
Case Report (n=1)
This case demonstrates the rapid progression of an untreated left ventricular pseudoaneurysm over a 1-year period, highlighting the importance of early surgical intervention.
Rapid progression of untreated post-MI LV pseudoaneurysm with new MR occurred; single case leaves open optimal intervention timing.
Left ventricular (LV) pseudoaneurysms rarely occur, but are detected more often with the development of new diagnostic tools. Since LV pseudoaneurysms are life-threatening, early surgical intervention is recommended. This report describes an 87-year-old woman with heart failure and a large LV pseudoaneurysm which progressed from a small LV pseudoaneurysm after an acute myocardial infarction over a 1-year period.

Kim et al. (2010) conducted a case report in Left ventricular pseudoaneurysm after acute myocardial infarction (n=1). Conservative management was evaluated on Progression of LV pseudoaneurysm.
