The cycloaddition of (chlorocarbonyl)Phenyl ketene (1) with C=N to form a six membered ring heterocycles is described. A mechanism involving a dipolar intermediate is provided. The reaction of (1) with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, N-benzilideneaniline and phenylisocyanate gave l,3-dioxazine-4-one or l,3-dioxazine-2,4-dione derivatives in good to excellent yields.
