Undergraduate nursing students in one university conduct quality assurance studies in the clinical setting as part of the requirements for a formal research course. The joint guidance of student projects by the nursing practice quality assurance coordinator and the research course instructor constitutes a type of collegial relationship that unifies practice and educational goals. There are mutual advantages to the nursing quality assurance program and to nursing students.
