The correct equation for the transport balance in a Trennschaukel or swing-separator is given and solved. The results are applied to Fischer's data on a H 2 -CO 2 system for a simultaneous and accurate determination of the thermal diffusion factor and mutual diffusion coefficient of this system. The merits of this new method of diffusion measurement are pointed out.
