Two-hundred-and-eighteen samples from 11 species of wild animals in Rumania were examined and 4 species of dermatophytes isolated, viz: Trichophyton mentagrophytes (9 strains), T. terrestre (7 strains), T. indicum (4 strains) and Keratinomyces ajelloi (2 strains). The geophilic dermatophytes failed to produce infection of experimental animals with the exception of one strain of T. terrestre which gave positive results in man only.
