The essential oil of the leaves ofCinnamomum zeylanicum Blume from South India was investigated by GC and GC/MS. More than 30 components have been identified with linalool (85.7%), eugenol (3.1%) β-caryophyllene (2.4%), (E)-cinnamaldehyde (1.7%) and α-terpineol as main compounds. Such a high concentration of hnalool in C. zeylanicum leaf oils was found for the first time.
