Summary The Busy Period relating to GI/Ek/1 is investigated by the method used by Conolly (1959) for GI/M/1. The system is simulated by a model in which arrivals take place in groups of fixed size k, service on each customer being random. This is an alternative to the more familiar “phase-service” concept used, for instance, by Wishart (1956).
