The amino acid sequences of four large CNBr fragments from the [14C]carboxymethylated hexon polypeptide are given, as well as the components of a minor CNBr cleavage product of hexon. The segments fully analyzed account for 176 residues and include two regions with some apparently regular residue spacing. The fractionation of CNBr (cyanogen bromide) fragments of the ['4C]carboxymethylated hexon protein from adenovirus type 2 has been reported as well as the structural analysis of most of these fragments (1).The primary structures of the remaining four main CNBr fragments, B12, B13, B33, and B42 (l), account for 176 residues in the protein, and a minor fragment, B62A, of 30 residues is composed of two noncleaved CNBr peptides. The amino acid sequence determination of these peptides is given in the present study.
