A low-speed anemometer is described which comprises an electrically heated wire and a thermocouple contained in a double-bore silica tube. In an air current the temperature change caused by heat loss is registered by the thermocouple and, when the instrument is suitably calibrated, the e.m.f. developed serves as a measure of the speed of flow.
