AIDS References in the Critical Reception of David Cronenberg: "It May Not Be Such a Bad Disease after All"

This essay argues that reception studies need to pay greater attention to topical and rhetorical references in film criticism. Specifically, the article analyzes references to AIDS in criticism of the films of David Cronenberg, with particular emphasis on The Fly (1986).
