Rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta) chorionic gonadotropin content of serum and urine was determined by bio-assay (mouse uterine weight, rat ovarian hyperemia). Negative results were obtained from serum collected on days 9 through 14 post mating. In the 2 weeks following the 15th post-mating day, positive gonadotropin responses were observed in all cases. The hormone was rarely detectable after the 35th post-mating day. Monkey chorionic gonadotropin concentration of serum and urine was assessed in terms of International Units of HCG. MCG levels in serum rose to 335 IU HCG/100 ml (days 21–30 post mating). Maximum urinary MCG levels attained were 200 IU HCG/24 hr (days 20–24 post mating). (Endocrinology78: 204, 1966)
