Magnetic susceptibility of nickel solid solutions with 0.8, 3.0, 5.2, 7.8 and 10.0 at.% vanadium has been determined as a function of temperature up to 1500 °K. The electrical resistivities on the same alloys have been measured at 4.2, 77.2, and 297.0 °K. The susceptibility results are similar but not completely identical to those exhibited by niobium and tantalum dissolved in nickel. The residual electrical resistivity contributions due to vanadium, niobium, and tantalum are exactly the same. Lattice parameters of the above‐mentioned solid solutions have been determined at 298 °K. The predicted changes in lattice parameters, based on atomic volumes and on elasticity theories due to Pines and Friedel, show a large positive deviation from the observed data in distinction to the satisfactory agreement between theory and experiment for the other Group Va solutes.
