Since early 1967 an informal 'Interdisciplinary Working Party' has been looking at some of the problems in science and technology which are the common concern of people working in different disciplines. The Working Party was set up by the Council of Engineering Institutions and the Science Institutes, with the general aim of keeping under review developments in the field of engineering as a whole and in the related sciences.
