Key Points

To evaluate the relationship between CT-derived pulmonary artery diameter, lung parenchymal abnormalities, and echocardiographically estimated pulmonary artery pressure in patients with mixed connective tissue disease.
Conducted a single-center retrospective study of 116 consecutive patients with mixed connective tissue disease who underwent chest CT and echocardiography within a 6-month interval between December 2004 and November 2021.
Pulmonary artery diameter (mm) and lung parenchymal abnormalities (%) were quantified on chest CT, and peak tricuspid regurgitation velocity on echocardiography was measured to estimate pulmonary artery pressure.
Pulmonary hypertension occurred in 18 of 116 patients (15.5%), and lung parenchymal abnormalities were identified in 52 patients with a mean involvement of 4.5% ± 8.9%.
Peak tricuspid regurgitation velocity demonstrated a moderate positive correlation with pulmonary artery diameter (r = 0.58), maintaining significance independently of lung parenchymal abnormalities.
Lung parenchymal abnormalities showed no significant correlation with estimated pulmonary artery pressure.
