The transfer constant calculated to telomer (C poly ) which is made in the system of styrene and carbon tetrachloride is estimated by the method reported by G. V. SCHULZ et al. As is suggested in the case of polymethyl methacrylate, C poly is separated to the two constants, one, belonging to the middle part (C M ) and the other, to the end groups (KC E ) along the polymer chain. The result of C M ‐value, 2·10 −4 at 100°C., is in a good agreement with the chain transfer constant to isopropylbenzne and shows the unaffected reactivity of tertiary hydrogen with the molecular size. A comparison of KC E value, 4·10 −2 at 100°C., with the chain transfer constants of model substances suggests the existence of the labile bond at the end of the telomer.
