High-order stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in crystalline acentric bis(guanidinium) zirconium bis(nitrilotriacetate) hydrate, [C(NH2)3]2Zr[N(CH2COO)3]2 · H2O, was observed under picosecond laser excitation. All scattering components were identified and put in relation with the SRS-active vibration modes (ωSRS1 ≈ 1008 cm—1 and ωSRS2 ≈ 2940 cm—1) of this crystal. The investigated new metal-organic single crystal is classified as a promising χ(3) active medium for Raman laser converters providing a maximum frequency shift among all known χ(3) solid-state materials used in experimental physics and laser technique.
