Alloying and conversion of anode materials enable the achievement of much higher specific capacity values for next generation anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. In article number 1702582 by Ivana Hasa, Stefano Passerini, and co-worker, recent developments on nanostructured design of these concepts are reviewed to highlight the advantages and remaining challenges with respect to their governing chemistries and implementation of nanotechnology.
