IN 1935 a concrete wall and beach of new stone were made at Tinside, Plymouth. An account of the colonization of these during their first two years has been given in an earlier paper (Moore, 1939), and at the same time the fauna and flora of a neighbouring old-established beach were described for comparison. The present paper comprises a review of conditions on the new beach and wall in November 1939; about four years after they were made. We wish to express our indebtedness to all those to whom we have referred specimens for identification: Mr L. R. Crawshay (Sponges), Dr M. V. Lebour and Dr V. Fretter (Molluscs), Mr W. J. Rees (Hydroids), Mr G. M. Spooner (Amphipods), Mr G. A. Steven (Ascidians), Mr D. P. Wilson (Polychaetes) and Miss M. F. Mare (Algae).
