The existence of radiation from a Dayem bridge is demonstrated by the observation of a self-induced cavity step. The form of the step is explained in terms of a dc-current-biased resistively shunted ideal Josephson device coupled to a resonance circuit. The behavior when a capacitor is included is also discussed.
