Azospirillum brasilense cells were shown to attach to isolated plant cells. A rapid semi-quantitative assay to measure plant cell attachment, as was described previously for Agrobacterium, was found to work especially well for Azospirillum. Attachment was measured in an indirect way and confirmed by direct observations through scanning electron microscopy.
