The (UB VRI) photometry of 13 old disk and 12 halo-population MARV stars is discussed. Some 50 (UBV) and 100 (RI) observations of red giants in the cluster M22 are also presented. The observations of the field variables are published in a current supplement of the Astrophysical Journal. The MARV and SARV stars in M4, M22, and NOC 5897, and TY Vir in Kapteyn's Star Group, lie above the asymptotic giant branches and may be the progenitors of the halopopulation, long-period Cepheids (LPC). Subject headings: clusters: globular - stars: late-type - stars: long-period variables
