A series of esters ofa‐branched fatty acids containing 28舑38 carbon atoms has been synthesized by free radical‐catalyzed addition of saturated aliphatic esters to terminal aliphatic olefins. Methods of purification of methyla‐decyloctadecanoate have been studied. The structure of methyla‐decyloctadecanoate has been established by nuclear magnetic resonance and by independent synthesis.
