The kinetics of the reaction of CHCl 2 radical with O( 3 P) atoms has been studied in a heatable tubular reactor coupled to a photoionization mass spectrometer. The time-resolved decay of CHCl 2 was monitored as a function of O atom concentration (in a large excess of O atoms). The rate constants show a weak dependence on temperature over the 302−900 K range and can be represented by an Arrhenius expression k(T) = k 3 = (9.00 ± 0.92) × 10 -11 exp(57.4 ± 19.1 K/ T ) cm 3 molecule -1 s -1 . HCl was detected as a product of the CHCl 2 + O( 3 P) reaction.
