The concentration of the tissue activator of plasminogen was determined in organs from various animals and from the calf embryo. In general brain, lung, heart, uterus, prostate, adrenal and ovary contained moderate to large amounts of activator. With few exceptions kidney, spleen, muscles and liver did not contain activator. Protease inhibitors (against trypsin) were found only in bovine lung and uterus. Calf embryo tissues contained more activator than tissues from the adult cow.
