We present a new route for preparation of metallic nanoparticles by sonomechanical-assisted metal displacement reduction. Au and Pt nanoparticles with sizes around 10 and 6 nm, respectively, and narrow size distributions were synthesized via the displacement reduction of precursor salts of HAuCl4·3H20 and H2PtCl6·6H2O by Cu and Fe foils, respectively.
